My husband is a keeper!

Do you ever have those moments when it hits you HARD how lucky you are to have your SO? And I am not talking just the regular..."he's so cute", or "Aw, isn't he awesome" when he buys you something nice, or surprises you with something...I mean the thank you Lord for him, kinda moment.

Well, I had a couple recently. My father just passed away...and after putting down the phone after having my brother break the news to me, I had a big ole primal cry for myself. Then when I was sufficiently calmer to be able to be coherent, I called my husband. Well, he said, "I'll be right home". I tried to argue that he didn't need to as he couldn't do anything anyway, but through his own tears he just said..."I'm on my way".

He was home a short while later, and just held me while I cried-no unecessary words...no brave statements...just held me. I was so lost, but he sprang into action and starting making arrangements for all of us to head down to South Africa...pronto.

While there I watched him cry with my mother, help my brothers with arrangements etc. The most touching moment was seeing him break down when my father's coffin was closed. He had only known my dad for a short time...but has become such a part of the family, that he felt the great loss too. I can never begin to put into words what I felt seeing my love being alternatively brave & strong for me, and then hold my mom's hand and cry with her...I am blessed...and I know it.
